The Ambassador of the United States of America Jeffrey D.
Feltman cordially invited Ms Sandra Saba to a reception in honor of
U.S. Woman's History Month on Tuesday, March 27,2007 "Lebanese Women are not represented in business and politics commensurate
with their education and talent". The invitees of the March 27th event
were
all " women of accomplishment". She was invited because of her demonstrated
commitment to success in her field. The reception was planned as an
opportunity for similarly dedicated women in the fields of business,
government, politics, NGOS, the arts and academia to meet.
The U.S. Embassy seeks to strengthen its outreach to women of
accomplishment. Their goal is to advocate for the full participation of the
Lebanese women in all fields, to provide assistance to enable Lebanon to
benefit from the skills and abilities of its women and to help remove
barriers to women's achievement.

Manager of MOE visits Horsh Ehden (15/12/2005)
The General Manager of
ministry of environment, Dr. berj Hatjian and miss Nancy
Awad from the Ministry of Environment visited the
reserve accompanied by the mayor of Zgharta- Ehden Gen.
Joseph Maarrawi, members of the committee and the
management team.
They visited the reserve office in the municipality
house in Ehden where some projects and future actions
were presented by HENR team.
The visit covered the two entrances of the reserve,
Nabeh Jouiit and Aiin al Biyada, the camp site and the
reforestation site of the cedar tree. During this visit,
the general manager perceived the steps, the works and
the improvements done by the GAC in the reserve.

Grant from USAID
We are glad as the Ehden Committee and Friends of Horsh
Ehden and the management team to bring forward a project
of awareness in Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve that could be
greatly beneficial to our community and to the
sustainability of the reserve. This project is funded by
a grant from USAID.
The grant covers different items: printing materials,
display equipments, educational boards, directional &
informational signs, interactive CD …
HENR has started implementing this project.

Planting
Cedar trees Droguerie
Phoenicia (a Lebanese pharmaceutical company) offered to
plant around 2000 cedar trees by the Horsh reserve. And
since introducing species inside the reserve is
prohibited, we had collaborated with the municipality
and chose a public land near the reserve to execute the
project.
The company took on her behalf the
cedar trees, their plantation and the maintenance over
one year. It had also delivered a certificate for each
doctor.
There was a press release in the
ministry of environment in the presence of the minister
Yaacoub Al Saraf to launch this project. The committee
of Horsh Ehden, the municipality of Zgharta-Ehden, the
management team, and other committee had attended the
event.

| Manager of HENR in
Jordan
From 23/01/2006 till 27/1/2006, the manager of HENR Mrs.
Sandra Saba has attended a workshop in Jordan for 5 days
about “Conservation of the Biodiversity through Eco-
tourism activities". The project was organized by
Project the Royal Society of Jordan and Swiss
Development.
